Hard Freeze Warning - For all SRSUD customers. Make preparations now!
January 21, 2026
HARD FREEZE WARNING
FOR ALL SRSUD CUSTOMERS
Please take measures to protect your meter and pipes during freezing weather. Failure to do so could result in possible high bills and unnecessary water loss. During cold weather, meter boxes should be insulated to help prevent freezing. You can insulate the box using foam, insulation, feed sacks, old towels, etc. inside the box. If you plan to be away from home or out of town, please make arrangements to take care of your water system when you are away.
After a hard freeze, when the temperature begins to rise above freezing, if you experience low water pressure, your lines may have frozen resulting in a leak. To inspect for a leak, turn all water taps off then inspect your meter to observe if the triangle on the face of the meter is moving. Any movement indicates a leak within your water system. When the temperature is above freezing, please remove any insulation from the meter box so staff can read the meter. If you have any questions, please contact the District’s office at 254-559-6180 or after-hours Gary Brockman at 254-212-9980.
